Today in Star Wars history, Emperor Palpatine returns from the dead... In Fortnite...

On December 14th, 2019, mere days before his big comeback in The Rise of Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine makes an eerie public broadcast at a special Fortnite Star Wars live event.

In the message, Palpatine announces the return of the Sith and vows revenge against those who momentarily toppled his Empire:

"At last the work of generations is complete. The great error is corrected. The day of victory is at hand. The day of revenge. The day of the Sith."

This broadcast is later mentioned in the opening crawl of Episode IX, setting the film’s events in motion.
